Dr Siew-Yin Then (FRANZCO, MBBS (UWA)) is a comprehensive Australian and Internationally-trained Ophthalmology consultant, with particular expertise in Cataract surgery and Oculoplastic surgery.
Training and Experience:
Dr Then was born in Perth, and graduated with honors in Medicine (MBBS, Hons) from the University of Western Australia. She has obtained dual College Fellowships, having initially completed the General Practice training program in Western Australia and gaining Fellowship to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Dr Then subsequently completed specialist ophthalmology training in Western Australia, and obtained Fellowship to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO)
Dr Then undertook further advanced sub-specialty training in Oculoplastic surgery at leading institutions in the United Kingdom, including Addenbrooke’s hospital in Cambridge, and the Corneo-Plastic unit at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. During this time, she presented at multiple international conferences, and published several peer-reviewed articles in the field of Oculoplastic surgery. Dr Then manages all eyelid problems, including droopy upper eyelids (ptosis and excess skin), lower eyelid malpositions, and periocular tumor excision and reconstructions.
Dr Then has a comprehensive grounding in all aspects of eye care, and also has a special interest in Cataract and Refractive surgery. She was the first ophthalmologist in Peel to offer multifocal lens implants during cataract surgery. She routinely uses toric lens implants, for the correction of astigmatism, in all patients. She has recently completed the Graduate Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery from the University of Sydney, which has further advanced her skills and knowledge in lens-implant and laser-refractive surgery. During your consultation, Dr Then will take time to get to know you, your lifestyle and occupation, in order to determine the best treatment options to achieve your best vision and freedom from your spectacles or contact lenses.
